About the VanGogh:

VW cast iron engine blocks for the MK4 and MK5 TDI and gas powered 4 cylinder engines have a small weakness. In certain situations the small cast iron threaded mounting point on the rear of the engine block breaks off which renders the block useless unless another hard mounting point can be added to the block. So far, what we have seen as the two leading causes of broken engine blocks are collision damage or failure to properly tighten the three engine mounting bracket bolts during a timing belt service.

The Dieselgeek.com VanGogh engine block repair brackets do not require removal of the engine to install. They were designed to simply bolt onto your damaged engine block with existing threaded holes near the broken "ear" on the upper rear corner of the block. As of August 2011, these custom made repair brackets have helped save over 600 engines throughout the world!

This hefty billet 6061 T6 aluminum bracket bolts on to the back passenger corner of the engine block after the stock cast iron mounting hole for the engine mount breaks off (Here is another picture).

This cracked engine block fix kit fits all 1999.5 through 2005 Jetta, 1999.5 through 2006 Golf and 1998 through 2005 New Beetle with the gasoline powered 2.0 liter four cylinder engine. The part was designed to fit around the cast iron air pump tube which is integral with the exhaust manifold.

The 2005.5-2006 MK5 Jetta TDI BRM cracked engine mount fix bracket provides a secure point to attach your engine mount bracket after the cast iron mounting ear breaks off (Click for another picture). The part requires removal and replacement of the EGR cooler to install. Kit comes with hardware to attach the broken engine mount bracket to the engine. This bracket also fixes later European-spec Pumpe Düse TDI engines, otherwise known as "PD" engines.
