Has your VW shifter suddenly gotten loose?

Make your MK4 Volkswagen, Audi, Seat or Skoda shifter good and tight again with our replacement shift cable bushing set. These custom made Delrin and UHMW polyethylene shifter bushings replace the spongy rubber bushings for the side to side and front to back shift cables. Prevents you from having to buy $400 worth of shift cables from the dealer when only the end bushings disintegrate. Proudly made in the USA and guaranteed for as long as you own your car!

If your 2000-2006 Mk4 car needs these bushings then it probably needs the Solid Stick SHAFT bushings and First Gear Getter, too. Get them all with the Deluxe MK4 Shifter Bushing Kit

Fits the following years and models with five or six speed cable shift transmissions:

Note: Our new universal kit includes all the bushings you will need. There are two different styles of side to side cables and we now include bushings for both types. You might also want to look at the Deluxe MK4 Shifter Bushing Kit since there is a good chance you will also need the First Gear Getter bushing and the Shifter Shaft bushings if your cable end bushings are bad. If you have a MK5 or MK6 car we have a MK5/MK6 Cable Saver bushing kit for your car.

Install: The videos below are the only provided install guides. The side to side cable end can be installed easily from inside the cabin. The front to back bushing can be done from inside the car if you drill a 1 1/8" hole in the side of the shifter box as shown in the second to last picture on the left or the last video below. If you are not interested in drilling a hole in the shift box to install the front to back bushing then you will need to access the shifter assembly from underneath the car.

Highly recommended: Buy a high quality T25 Torx driver or socket to remove the pivot screw for the steel bracket that the side to side cable attaches to. The T25 screws are very tight and the heads are somewhat soft. If you strip out the head then you will need to drill the head off with a 13/64" or 5mm drill bit.  After the stripped head is drilled off, the remaining shank of the 5mm screw will unthread easily. We provide an extra 5mm Allen screw in case you strip the head of the stock T25 screw. The replacement screw we include is 14mm long and requires a 4mm or 5/32" Allen drive wrench or socket.

US shipping:  We offer and highly recommend $7.99 FedEx 2 Day shipping on this item if you are in any sort of hurry to get it.  Slower US Postal Service shipping is around $3.00.  We ship Monday through Friday from Colorado except on holidays.

International shipping:  USPS shipping is currently suspended due to USPS system backlogs. In these uncertain times we offer the slightly more expensive but much faster FedEx International Economy® service. FedEx will likely collect local taxes upon delivery.  Also, for Canada, the new USMCA trade agreement will reduce taxes and duties on this item.

Makes an old car shift better than a new one

I installed these bushings, and though I have some odd resistance in my side to side motion (I think it's my crank and not related) the car went from a total beater to something that could rival the shifting in a 90s Japanese sports car. Bravo guys, you made a truly great all American product and I can't wait for the next car to put these in (please make some for the Scirocco)

I was scared

Bought the deluxe shifter bushing kit for my 2001 Jetta. Not my first time wrenching on a car but for some reason this whole thing was stressing me out. Watched all of Jim's videos and then dived in. A few bolts stripped away but they didn't put up too much of a fight. Everything went on exactly as they said. Wasn't the Nightmare Game of Operation I was expecting. Super happy. Thanks!

Glad you got it sorted. We really put a lot of effort toward providing the DIY with the information necessary to install everything we sell.

Easy and cheap!!!!

Amazing product, I did the replacement myself, easy steps to follow! And that extra screw save my life!! Thanks!

Thanks Victor. Glad you see the value in the CS set compared to $300+ cables.

Great product. Great video.

$33 for a little nylon bushing and circle clip seemed crazy, but it was TOTALLY worth it. The product and video that explains drilling out the side of the shifter housing were both perfect. So happy I did this instead of dropping shifter box out of the bottom of the car. Appreciate the DieselGeek sticker in the repair kit as well -- a nice touch. Thanks for a great product and video. Well worth the price.

Thanks Torsten! We like to remind our customers that they AREN'T buying a $400 cable, and the AREN'T having to remove the shift box (along with the exhaust, heat shield, and driveshaft).
