Description

Our Race Pipe is for ALH engines which include mid-'99 through 2003 Golf and Jetta TDI and all 1998-2003 New Beetle TDI (The Race Pipe is not meant for "PD" TDI engines). The Race Pipe replaces factory "throttle body". Increases top-end horsepower and eliminates intake manifold clogging forever!

Race Pipe Features:

* The Race Pipe has a boost port nipple added for easy and reliable boost gauge installation. (Nipple is plugged)
* No more manifold clogging! Soot can no longer accumulate inside intake manifold.
* Abrasive soot particles will never again be ingested into engine.
* Much lower air restriction nets 3 horsepower increase above 3000 rpms with better revving.
* Stealthy good looks!
* Better than factory quality!
* Counterculture appeal!

Kit Includes:

* Race Pipe with factory style o-ring seal
* Three Grade 12.9 zinc plated Allen screws for Race Pipe
* ¼” thick 6061-T6 aluminum block-off plate for EGR cooler (not sold separately)
* Factory stainless steel gasket for block-off plate
* 1/8” brass boost port nipple with Febi Bilstein vacuum plug (port and plug fully installed)

To install Race Pipe:

Remove engine cover.
Remove rubber boost pipe from EGR valve and upper intercooler pipe, set aside.
Remove all four 6mm Allen screws for the accordion pipe leading from the EGR valve to the EGR cooler.
Remove large vacuum hose from vacuum diaphragm and plug it.
Cut small vacuum hose to shut-off solenoid and plug it.
Remove all three 5mm Allen screws from the EGR valve.
Attach block-off plate with metal gasket to EGR cooler using two stock 6mm drive Allen screws.
Attach Race Pipe to intake manifold with three provided (longer) 5mm drive Allen screws.
Reattach rubber boost pipe to upper intercooler pipe and then attach boost hose to Race Pipe
Installed Race Pipe.  Green Race Pipe only shown for clarity of position. We only sell silver Race Pipes.
Place EGR valve and accordion pipe in a safe place for storage. A functional, non-leaking EGR valve has decent market value if you decide to sell it.  They are expensive new.

Note: This mod is for Off-Road Use Only and will most likely (approx 90% probability) give you a check engine light unless you turn EGR functionality off with chip tuning or by using an experimental "Maf twist"as described on TDIClub.com. We will not offer any tech help with a check engine light.
