What a Dieselgeek Panzer Skid Plate will do for you:

  • Give Peace of Mind. The stock belly pan offers no protection against broken oil pans.
  • Save you money. Replacing oil pans, stock belly pans or complete engines is expensive.
  • Save you time. Have you ever lost an oil pan? It is such a time wasting ordeal, especially on an Audi A4.
  • Protect the environment. Hundreds of gallons of motor oil is spilled on the road every year from broken Passat oil pans.
  • Keep snow and ice out of the engine bay.

Oil Changes:

TDI Passat owners can change their oil from the top of the engine bay since the oil filter is right up top. A Pela 6000 oil extraction device (or similar) may be purchased from oilchangekits.com to allow you to suck all of the used oil out of the dipstick tube. If you drive a gasoline model you will need to remove the Panzer Plate to change your oil as the oil filter is located at the bottom of the engine bay. Not to worry since removal and reinstallation of the Panzer Plate is easier than stock!

Ground clearance and total weight:

The Panzer Plate has as much ground clearance as the stock plastic belly pan. The Panzer Plate weighs in at only 12 pounds. It’s a must-have for any Passat owner!

$9.99 Supersaver FedEx Ground shipping to US addresses is now available (to lower 48 states). Maybe a redesign suggestion.... June 28, 2016

I loved the idea of this with so much vulnerable equipment underneath this relatively low vehicle occasionally driving through NYC.
It was in the parking lot of Valley Forge that I took a speed bump a bit too fast. When the car came down it was the vent slots cut into the plate that cleanly punctured the oil pan like a Karate chop.
Maybe a freak accident and the result of worn struts but a slight adjustment to the design might be looked at.

Passat skid plate September 6, 2014

After years of fighting with plastic VW skid plates first on my Jetta and later on my Passat, I recently purchased the Panzer skid plate.  Although I did not install it myself, I understand from my mechanic that the online instructions made the installation easy.  Thanks

I have a 2005 Passat TDI. My factory plastic skid plate was destroyed and missing most of the plastic fasteners, so I was looking for a better quality replacement. I did quite a little research and found that the Panzer skid plate appeared to be too good to be true - virtually the same price as a factory plastic one + fasteners, so i ordered one.  The install took under an hour and is a perfect fit, much better design, and much more protective alternative to the factory design.  I would highly recommend to anyone looking for some added protection and peace of mind.
NOTE: When i took my car to the dealership to change the oil, the mechanic tracked me down and complemented me on the skid plate, asked me where I purchased it from, and the cost. He stated to me that the cost was $150 less than the dealership charges for a replacement factory plastic one. He also said that he was ordering one for his own car after work that same day and would recommend the Panzer skid plate to anyone.

Passat B5 Skid Plate August 26, 2014

I own several V-Dubs - '99 NB Hatch turbo, '03 NB Cabrio turbo, & '02 Passat V6 wagon.  All have been lowered, and all have the Dieselgeek skid plate installed.  No comparison to the paper-thin plastic nonsense that is OE and each has saved my motors and $$$$ since the installations.  I would not drive my V-Dubs on the street w/o Diesel Geek skid plates!  They are awesome!

Worth every penny September 23, 2013

Just got my B5.5 Panzer Plate installed.
As my mechanic says, this is the best metal skid plate he has ever seen, every hole and bracket was well adapted to the specific model, all headache was avoided because it was well designed/engineered.
The plate itself is of an outstanding quality and finish, was well packaged and delivered fast. This is by far the best purchase for my car this year. I take no chances after a truck lost its muffler in front of me on the freeway and went flying under my car at 130kmh breaking my OEM plastic belly pan in bits.
