My 2005 Golf TDI and I would have spent some serious alone time in the Gila National Forest were it not for this plate.
I hit a basketball sized piece of sandstone dead center on the plate at around 40mph coming around a blind corner.
Upon coming to a stop, the noise of plate on pan rattling was audible at idle as the plate had unsurprisingly deflected about a half inch in response to the stone, but no giant oil mess!
I drove 10 miles to a ranger station, removed the plate, bashed it with my mallet against the grass for a few minutes, and it fit right back on and has been back in protective service since.
Get one of these.

Jetta Panzer Plate VS Step Ladder |

I was following a pick-up truck when an 8 foot fiberglass step ladder flew into the path of my beloved Jetta. I ran directly over the ladder with all 4 wheels. The autobody shop felt that without the Panzer plate on the car it would have been totalled because the ladder would have destroyed the oil pan and turbo charger. You can't plan on this stuff happening. This Panzer plate saved me the hassle of going out looking for a new car. The installation was a snap and having put it to the test I am here to tell you they are well worth the money. Protect your vehicle and buy one before you find a ladder in your lane...
