Description

The TT Panzers have sold out. Please email us if you would like to get on the list for another possible run of Audi TT Panzers.

Get the protection you need for your 4 cylinder 180 and 225HP Audi TT! Our heavy duty aluminum Panzer Plate kits protect all of the parts in the bottom of the engine bay, including the cast aluminum oil pan, a/c compressor, power steering pump, transmission, and rear subframe. These items, and especially the super fragile, 2mm thick cast aluminum oil pan, can be easily damaged by road debris, ice chunks, and minor off-road excursions. Many Audi TT engines have been destroyed by road debris putting a hole or a crack in the aluminum oil pan and the subsequent loss of oil and oil pressure. Plus, these cars are very low to the ground and the stock front springs on these cars are relatively soft which causes the cars to bottom out frequently. Damage often occurs when bottoming out. Installing our hefty .190" inch thick aluminum skid plate will help you avoid costly repairs and give you peace of mind that your engine is protected!

One additional benefit of the Panzer plate is that it acts as a rear subframe stiffener. The Panzer Plate also ties the rear subframe to the front intercooler tube cross brace which stiffens the whole front of the car. This triangulation will add crispness to the steering and make the chassis feel more solid, especially on TT Roadsters!

All hardware is included in the kit with no drilling required. Installs in as little as one hour! This Audi TT Skid Plate Kit fits all 1.8T Coupe and Roadsters with manual transmissions only. This kit will not fit TT's with Tiptronic transmissions or the TT 3.2 VR6. Also, the TT Panzer plate no longer includes the 1J0 825 250AC splash guard described in the install manual. You may purchase this panel from your local VW dealer and cut to fit. It is not necessary for the mounting of the skid plate and only serves to keep water and dirt out of the side of the engine bay.

Saved my car's shiny metal a$$ March 7, 2014
Reviewer: James from New Jersey
Decided to "upgrade" when my OEM cover broke from road debris. Must admit - there was a bit of guilty zeal putting this solid metal plate under the car, thinking it might have really been a mix of machismo &  overkill.  HOWEVER on 2 occasion it saved my car's shiny metal a$$

1st was on the Turnpike when a wild tire appeared from under an SUV in front. Had no choice but to clench & take on the challenge. The battle was over in a second (I choose YOU, Panzer Plate!) When I checked the TT all I saw was a rubbery streak of victory

2nd time was at night. No chance to react, a wood plank was in the road. Didn't even have time to clench (my bowels did) when THUMP - the TT chewed it up, was all "meh", and passed it like a fart. I stopped thinking, "no way - that was a freakin' board of wood" -but nope. no damage. nothing. The wood? Splintered & broken – and frankly, I’m glad! How else will it learn to not hang out in the middle of the road?

Hands down - awesome product. THANK YOU!

Panzer Plate 2001 225 TTRQ March 3, 2014
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Hamilton, Ohio
Our Panzer Plate was installed by our local VW Dealer.  It was very reasonable - they charged standard shop time for the installation.  The OEM plate was damaged when we were not able to avoid road debris.    The Panzer Plate offers far better protection than the OEM and gives us a great sense of security when traveling.

Thankyou DIESELGEEK

TT Panzer Plate February 25, 2014
Reviewer: Greg from Albuquerque, NM
I live in NM where the roads can be pretty bad, and the TT oil pan hangs a bit low and is in harm's way. I managed to oval out the oil drain plug hole in the oil pan of one of my TT's on a narrow 2-lane mountain road & now it seeps oil.

The TT Panzer Plate is a well-made product, the thickness of which seems to have been carefully chosen to minimize weight while providing excellent protection. I had mine installed by the shop I use for large repairs, and they told me that it went on easily with no problems. They charged me slightly over 1 hour for the install.

Thanks for making a quality product available at a reasonable price.

Panzer skid plate review - Nice! February 23, 2014
Reviewer: Karl Kramer from Maryland
I installed this plate on my 2001 TT when the flimsy OEM cover had given it's last. The installation went smoothly once the instructions were understood. The car feels a little more stable at speed to me with the plate. Overall - this is a great addition to the TT - it gives me a little more peace of mind having such substantial protection under the oil pan.

I have some suggestions to improve it:
1. In the instructions - Add wider photos with insets to make it easier to determine what part of the car is being worked on (e.g. which factory bolts to remove). Include torque specifications for tightening the factory bolts.
2. The skid plate itself could be improved with the addition of an option to add a 3" cold air intake option.
3. Another TT-specific option to consider would be spacers for the right side splash panel to bolt-on, or the addition of the factory VW part recommended in the instructions as an option to the kit.
