In pursuit of perfection:

There is nothing as important to the feel of your car as what you actually touch. This includes the seats, the steering wheel, and of course, the shifter. Many people have mentioned that installing a Dieselgeek Sigma Shifter should be the first mod added to a new car. In the pursuit to make our own cars the best they can be, we have created the finest short shifter with the best materials, engineering, and craftsmanship to transform the way your car feels and in turn how you feel about it.

Each and every Dieselgeek Sigma Shifter is made to our exacting specifications and tolerances by a collection of passionate machinists. As always, the Dieselgeek Sigma Shifter is guaranteed as long as you own your car. Country of origin: USA.

We are excited to offer you the best shifter we could possibly make, the Sigma Shifter. Our Sigma Short Shift Kit utilizes an all-aluminum front-to-back cable end with a race-proven steel spherical pivot bearing. Lesser shifters use a stock Audi/VW rubber insulated cable end which is optimized for economically assembling the car at the factory.

The side-to-side cable end is fortified with our Perfect Pivot bushings. The factory glass reinforced composite cable end body is ideal for the lightly loaded side-to-side cable. By using a performance modified stock cable end, the super slick adjustment function is retained. This makes adjustment, or readjustment, a breeze! The Delrin Perfect Pivot inserts do not have any free play which means they only rotate on our precision cable end pin. They do not flex side to side and will transfer motion without any losses.

Since the OEM cable ends have rubber damping parts and large tolerances, the shifter feel of all other shifters is nowhere near as solid or precise as our finest work, the Sigma Shifter. With the addition of our Sigma Shifter your car's shift mechanism will no longer feel like a cable-operated shifter, but more like a solid lever shifter from a high-performance rear wheel drive car. We designed the Sigma Shifter cable ends in the pursuit of shifting excellence and we succeeded! Getting the rubber out of the linkage has an unexpected and profound effect on shifter feel. The action becomes light yet very positive, giving your vehicle a precision feel that no other shifter can match.

The other difference between the Dieselgeek Sigma shifter and the competition is that our shifter is equipped with our Dieselgeek Slider. The Slider mates the front to back assembly with the side to side bell crank and controls left to right gate selection. We selected a very precise, long-lasting, self-lubricating structural plastic material guaranteed to last as long as your car. The cheaper factory white sliding piece found on all other short shift kits have large tolerances built in and is made of a plastic that will deteriorate rapidly with heavy use. This makes all other shifters less and less precise as time progresses. We have eliminated shifter degradation permanently with the Dieselgeek Slider. The performance difference can be felt on the very first 2-3 gear shift you make. You will love it!

Installation is most certainly a do-it-yourself mod for those of you who do not mind getting a little dirty. Every shifter can be installed easily within one hour. All parts are installed top-side in the engine bay. Call it an automotive bonding experience!

The Sigma 6 fits all VAG cars with this linkage.

Does not fit 1.4 or 1.5 TSI turbo gas cars (1.4 / 1.5 TSI uses the MQ250 5-speed shifter) Does not fit MQ500 transmission found in TTRS or Tiguan.

Please read this, especially if you have a Mk4.

If you are having any issues shifting we would suggest replacing any bad shifter bushings prior to installing the Sigma shifter. The Mk4's are getting on up there in age and it is likely that one or more bushings needs to be replaced. If you have bad bushings you will not be able to adjust the shifter properly. You should watch this YouTube video and do the test shown prior to installing your shifter:

If you have a 2000-2001 car with round cable ends you will need to buy a single OE VAG cable end from the 2002 and newer cars. The VW part numbers for these cable ends can be one of the following: 1J0 711 761B, 1J0 711 761C or 5N0 711 761 which we sell for cheap. DO NOT BUY an aftermarket cable end! They do not work! You can buy a good used one from us if you need one.

US shipping:  Free FedEx 2nd Day shipping to US addresses is included in the price but you have to pick that

option when you check out. In most cases, FedEx will deliver on

WOW! just wow!!

DG has been in the shifter industry for a while. Back to the MK4 days. It's safe to presume they're the best in the short shifter market. There are only a handful of companies making SS for the MK7. Logically why not go with what appears to be the best. I did and bought the Sigma 6 SS for my facelift MK7. Night & day difference. It's like driving a different car. I'm excited again to get behind the wheel and find myself often aimlessly driving. The factory slop is completely gone and I have not even upgraded the bushing kit yet, which I will do next. Shifts are so crisp and snappy, and most importantly SHORT. If I had to guess I'd say 48% throw reduction.

The install was simple as it gets. Took my time but can be done in less than an hour. I did not even have to perform an alignment. Everything was spot on. Found every gear and reverse without issue. They have an excellent and thorough install video.

The engineering in the product shows. It's designed very well compared to others. It will last a lifetime. I'm so glad I did the research and went with DG. I'm a customer of their products for life. Thanks DG, for the amazing product(s).

Best Short Shifter on the Market

I can’t say enough good things about this unit. It’s night and day compared to a stock shifter. This GEN 3 Sigma 6 is as good as it gets. An elegant solution that is robust. Treat yourself to one of these ASAP. You won’t regret it. Kudos to Diesel Geek!

Pure mechanical feel

I originally had just the Dieselgeek side-to-side relay with an OE Audi front-to-back. Very nice, smooth setup with OE feel and shorter throw. I really enjoyed it.
But over time, the soft rubber OE cable end on the front-to-back started to bug me. So I completed my Dieselgeek setup, banishing the rubber for a spherical bearing. This thing feels DIRECT! A little notchy when cold, but once warmed up, shifting is so beautifully mechanical and smooth. I find myself making excuses to drive. Love this product.

Feels awesome but lacks some attention to details

Installed it today on 2023 GTI. Feels awesome, don’t regret!
However, the locking pin is not compatible with mk8, needs something thiner.
Instructions are missing, those vague videos with “don’t overtighten” instead of actual torques don’t help with credibility. Cable ends on 2023 are different from those in the video. Please make it perfect:)

Hi Serge -

Sorry for the confusion. I suspect you weren't watching the current videos. The most current videos are posted below the text of the product description.

The locking pin for all VW cable shift cars 2000+ is 5mm, including the MK8. The lower receptacle for the pin can be a bit snug the first time a pin is inserted. Additionally there is a step in the upper loop on the stick base which has been a minor source of confusion. It can be helpful to start the pin at an angle.

As for the torque spec, yes, we intentionally omit this from the install videos. We provided it in older videos and every year we had a handful of folks that would snap the stud right off their expensive selector shaft! That's a real bummer because the customer is forced to either shell out $400+ to VW for a replacement, burn up signifcant time finding a used one, or incur significant down time getting it rifle drilled to repair. We pivoted to 'good and tight, but don't go crazy' which largely solved the problem.
